Christina Veselak
Founder & Director
Christina T. Veselak, MA, LMFT, CN is the founder and director of the Academy for Addiction and Mental Health Nutrition and runs Garden Gate Counseling & Consulting in Southeast Denver, Colorado. She has been a licensed psychotherapist for over 30 years, and specializes in individual counseling, addiction recovery and Mental Health Nutrition. She has also consulted for supplement companies, IV detox programs, and residential addiction treatment, helping them integrate nutritional approaches into their programs.

She is an experienced public speaker, and has presented at conferences and trainings around the country. Christina is also a founding member and former Executive Director of The Alliance for Addiction Solutions, a non-profit organization which promotes the use of nutritional and other natural modalities to support repair of the addicted brain.

She is committed to staying abreast of the rapidly growing science of orthomolecular psychiatry and functional medicine, and presenting it to the general public and professionals in the fields of addiction recovery & mental health.

Hyla Cass
Author of The Addicted Brain and How to Break Free
Dr. Hyla Cass is an internationally acclaimed innovator, speaker, and expert in the fields of integrative medicine, psychiatry, and addiction recovery. She is board-certified in psychiatry as well as in holistic and integrative medicine. She appears regularly on TV including The Dr. Oz Show, The View, and E! Entertainment, as well as numerous radio shows, and national magazines.

Dr. Cass has created a line of innovative supplement formulas to help balance brain chemistry, to enhance mind, mood, and memory for those wanting a more natural approach, as well as for those coming off medications such as antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, drugs of abuse, or alcohol.

She is the author of numerous articles and several popular books including: Natural Highs, 8 Weeks to Vibrant Health, and Supplement your Prescription: What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Nutrition, and The Addicted Brain and How to Break Free.

Pati Reiss
President of the Board of Directors, AAS
Pati Reiss, BA, HHC, NRC is a certified holistic health coach/nutrition recovery coach, educator and chef. Her work focuses on teaching & coaching healthy lifestyle upgrades, addiction/mental health recovery and holistic gourmet cooking. This is done using nutrition, food, amino acid therapy, meditation and movement. Through her own healing recovery Pati has found that vibrant health, hope and recovery are possible and advocates this in all her teachings.

She is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, NYC New York 2000, and holds and Bachelor of Arts in Human Services & Special Education from Trinity College, Vermont 1978. She has completed, The Neuro-Nutrient Therapy for Addictive Disorders Training with Julia Ross in June of 2008 and became certified as a Recovery Nutrition Coach through The Alliance for Addiction Solutions in 2014. She has been a board member of The Alliance for Addiction Solutions, since 2010 and is currently the president of the Board of Directors.

She currently has a private Holistic Health & Recovery Coaching practice in Salt Lake City, Utah, called High Vibe Recovery and works long distance with clients throughout the country. Pati is also founder of The Holistic Gourmet which offers cooking classes, food & nutrition education classes and more.

Debra Filla
Owner of Inside Out
Debra Filla, BA, MBA, is Builder, and Owner of Inside Out, a business focused on “helping build health from the inside out” since 1998. Debra is a Certified Recovery & Nutrition Coach: (CRNC). She is serving her 13th year as Councilmember – City of Leawood, retired from a 30-year career with IBM and is past VP of the KC Celiac Sprue Association (CSA).

Debra has a fascination with the incredible mystery of how the body works. When her youngest daughter acquired Alopecia she began an intrest to investigate the ‘Mystery of the Missing Hair,’ and more importantly, what causes a healthy immune system to ‘kick the bucket’. When she and her family all tested positive for gluten sensitivity, she began to learn about gluten and the role it plays in celiac, and other autoimmune diseases.

A continual life learner, Debra has extended this real world learning to explore the connection between the gut, aka, our “second brain” and the biochemistry and nutrition components of addiction and mental health and generational history of alcoholism.
